  1. This is the same thing we were talking about in class about the responsibilities of journalists increasing. Integrating social media responsibility into journalists' portfolios isn't a horrible thing, but I think it helps to have that responsibility channeled and nurtured by a standalone department...not sure if I'm with the Times on this one...

  2. But then, how are you dealing with the need for integration? She seems to be saying, okay, I've done the nurturing bit for the Times - now the process needs to take root in such a way that it belongs to everybody. And of course, one issue is that each new move does add to the journalist's responsibility. Why I was saying talk to Nikki: perhaps another step in this process is for management to decide what the incentives might be for the journalist to buy in, once s/he accepts that this can contribute to the growth of the paper.
